Let’s work together to help your child find words for their big feelings.

Your Family Has Stopped Doing So Many Things

There’s a list in your head of what your family doesn’t do anymore.

The birthday party you sent regrets to, the practice you stopped signing up for, the store you run to alone now while somebody stays home with your kid.

You’ve gotten good at steering around anything that might undo your child. So good at it that you hardly notice you’re doing it, until a friend asks why you never come.

Bedtime and Drop-Off Take Everything You Have

Bedtime runs long and ends with your child in your bed or you on their floor.

Mornings start with a stomachache and a school door your kid won’t walk through.

The activity you signed them up for ended at the car door, in tears, before it ever really started.

What looks like refusal is a young child held captive by something they can’t name yet.

Your Child’s Feelings Arrive as Hands Before They Arrive as Words

When the frustration gets too big to hold, it comes out as hitting, as yelling, as meanness aimed at the people they love most.

Ten minutes later your kid is sorry but can’t tell you what happened.

The language for it hasn’t shown up yet, so their body says it instead.

This isn’t who your child is.

You’re Afraid of What This Turns Into

Underneath the scheduling and the workarounds sits a fear you don’t say out loud. You’re afraid of what happens to your child if nobody figures this out.

And you’re afraid of what it’s already doing to everyone else in your house.

All of that deserves a place where nobody flinches and nobody keeps score.

No One in Your Family Gets Judged Here

Our office is a comfortable place for a young child to work out what’s bothering them and what would make it better.

Kids this age show us in play what they can’t yet hand us in a sentence.

We’re working with you, too, so what we learn about your child doesn’t stay in the office.

You’ll come in carrying frustration and leave with something much closer to empathy.

Your Kid Learns to Use Words Instead of Their Body

Your child starts finding language for the thing that used to arrive as hands and volume.

They look lighter, more confident, more relaxed than the kid you’ve been worrying about.

Their big feelings stop frightening you, because you understand what sits underneath them and what to do when they show up.

And the list of what your family doesn’t do anymore starts getting shorter.

The free phone consultation is where you tell us what your days look like right now, what your child can’t get through, and what your family stopped doing because of it.

Then we’ll tell you how we’d work with your kid, how we’d work with you, and how your family starts getting those days back.

Questions parents ask about child therapy

  • Plan to meet with your therapist for about an hour. In an effort to complete a thorough assessment of your child’s needs, we ask that your child be accompanied for the first full appointment by one or both parents.

We will discuss your child’s current struggles, but also their strengths, interests, academic experiences, social world, and family dynamics.

We hope in this first session to establish a comfortable and safe beginning to our relationship with both you and your child. Before the end of the session, we will create a treatment plan that will include goals for our work together, scheduling, and answer any questions you have.
