Sometimes the people we are closest with and love the most are also the people we misunderstand and struggle with the most.

The feelings we have about our children are stronger than those we have toward any other person in our lives.

The connection children have with their parents is natural, innate and essential to survival. Together in therapy, we can explore and express emotions that have been too volatile to talk about at home.

Family therapy is a way that you can gain insight into each other’s thoughts and feelings. Together we can determine boundaries and ground rules that feel supportive and realistic. When used in conjunction with individual therapy, family therapy can add depth to the parent/child relationship.

We are here to help your family if you are struggling with:

Setting and enforcing rules and expectations

Honesty and trust

Respect and communication

Changes and transitions

Life decisions

Past or recent traumas

School attendance and performance

Death and loss

Emotion Regulation

FAQ

Yes! Family therapy is a chance to get support in healing any relationships that are feeling difficult.

If there feels like there is a complex web of problems in the home, we can have a first session be with parents only to discuss the full breadth of what is feeling difficult and decide together what interventions we should start with. If we begin work together with a family, we may break off for individual sessions during the process. Alternatively, we may start with individual therapy with one child and add in family therapy sessions along the way.

It is very vulnerable to open up topics and feelings that you have not been able to deal with effectively at home. Our trained clinicians are here to help the communication to be productive, honest, and respectful. We are here to help guide the conversation in directions that will address underlying problems and identify patterns and cycles that exist.
